“When we met Ellie, it was love at first sight. The animal shelter was crazy busy that day. Someone had brought Ellie and her brother in after finding them behind an old abandoned building. Things were so chaotic that day, that Ellie had been put in a crate with the name 'Elliot'. We didn't have a chance to interact with her outside of the crate, so we thought we were adopting 'Elliot'. We submitted the adoption papers and the shelter kept 'Elliot' to have 'him' fixed. When the shelter called to tell us we could pick 'Elliot' up, 'he' had not been neutered, 'he' had been spayed. We picked her up to bring her home at 3 months old. She changed our lives, made our empty nest feel full again. She loved to run, chase tennis balls, and play tug of war. Ellie loved to eat anything and everything except green beans. She would spit them out like a kid. She even chewed on rocks! She loved belly rubs and walks. When she got older, she would greet us at the door with a toy in her mouth and would carry it with her to go outside to potty. Between her size and bark, she would scare people away. But truth be told, she loved people and only wanted attention. We came home to find the house inspector in our house with Ellie. He just walked right in when we weren't home! Life without Ellie will never be the same. I'll miss our quiet mornings together before the rest of the house wakes up. I'll miss hunkering down with her in the closet during thunderstorms. I'll miss her greeting me with her toy, wagging tail, and unconditional love. Rest in peace, Ellie. Your chapter has ended, but your story will live forever”.
